Yes, they do. But it doesn't look good, it's awkward to use, and in the new building he has the choice. However, the electrician will probably not put any more thought into it and will unnecessarily install switches if he is not told otherwise.

The Shelly solution is certainly a budget solution. The only questions for a final decision are 1. what might still come later (lighting, heating control, etc.)? 2. whether boundary conditions such as installed switches, etc., restrict the solution spatially or electrically? 3. what backup solution is planned in case of malfunction? Regarding point 3 - so far we only had a switchless roller shutter control operated by app or remote control. After very nasty power outages and a remote control failure, nothing worked anymore. As a result - the next roller shutter control will again include a manual switch.

Oops, I wanted to continue but didn't consider the time limit for editing (beginner here). This was still missing:

With >10 actuators, you usually get Bosch Smarthome actuators with a central unit or possibly Homematic actuators with a central unit and actuator with mechanical switch, which only need to be equipped with the appropriate adapter and rocker for 500€. It's above the budget, but depending on perspective and conditions, it can have advantages.

Is there a maximum number of Shellys that can be installed? Just counted... we have 18 of the Shelly 2.5 :/ And that’s just for the roller shutters. I also wanted to equip the light switches with Shelly 1. That would be another 13. Having 31 more “devices” on the WiFi alone seems heavy to me. Can that even work?

Why? Technically, not a problem at all. A normal private network without VLANs can basically manage 254 or 255 devices. Much more important is really a very good WLAN coverage if you want to build everything on WLAN. A small Fritzbox in the utility room somewhere between the heater and the washing machine will not be sufficient. You have to be able to reach every corner or every installation position of a Shelly cleanly. I would worry about that and not whether 31 devices are a problem.

One more thing: Since I would always assign a fixed IP to "system-relevant" devices like Shellys, you would definitely have to enlarge the range for fixed IP addresses in your router. In Fritzboxes this is by default from 192.168.178.1 or 192.168.178.2 - 192.168.178.19 and from .20 DHCP starts. So change that, give all Shellys a fixed IP and ensure really good WLAN coverage throughout the house. By the way, really good WLAN does not work with repeaters, just in case that idea comes up.

My post was not formulated as a question without reason since I have no experience with it ;) I just wanted to make sure that it works like that without much effort.
