I can only strongly advise against that. My nephew is seven now and developed asthma and a severe allergy to mold spores as a baby after his parents overlooked water damage and the mold behind the bedroom wardrobe. Mold spores are not only toxic but also powerful allergens. I would never let a child sleep or play in a room with mold. It can even lead to fungal infections of the respiratory tract. Remove the wallpaper and paint with lime paint—real lime paint! Mold can't grow on that. And don't put anything against the wall! I don’t understand how parents can take that risk for their child. It’s really well known that this is not harmless. And mold removers are not exactly healthy either, even if they are effective.

Oh I wish all the best!!! Because of mold: I would also be concerned about the spores letting a child sleep there. I would first remove everything, air thoroughly, and not put anything in front of it. Of course, this comes at an unfortunate time now…

Thank you very much. Yes, that's exactly the thing, I can't tear off wallpaper now so close to delivery. :) I really don't like the spores at all. I would prefer to move out yesterday, but some things you simply don't know beforehand. These conditions with the leaks were simply unknown to everyone. And in 3-4 months our house will be ready to move in. Moving again for another 3 months in the meantime, with a newborn, is logistically impossible. But I like the tip about lime paint. We can do that as soon as I'm no longer completely unwell.

Why can't your husband do it? It doesn’t take half a day. Put on a mask, disinfect the wallpaper well with chlorine solution, soak it and remove it. Let dry and paint over twice. Then clean the room thoroughly and wash all washable items. (I hope there is no children's clothing in the dresser?) I wouldn’t wait with it, especially since it’s getting warmer now and the humidity will increase again. This is not just a small corner at a window, but a square meter! With my nephew, everyone initially thought he just had a prolonged cold and croup. They were in the hospital with the baby several times. Children are very sensitive to mold; asthma is often the consequence. Nobody wishes that on anyone. (And all the best for the time to come!)

First of all, all the best for the birth and the baby time!

A friend had mold in her room as a teenager, which only appeared later. At that time, she also had very frequent respiratory illnesses. Before moving in and after moving out, she didn’t have them anymore. So this is really not to be taken lightly. I would immediately "close" the children's room and put the little one in another room or with the parents' room, so that he is not exposed to any or at least a lower risk. With a baby, I wouldn’t go in there at all.

Of course, it’s annoying, but better all family members in fewer rooms and healthy than risking health in the last 3-4 months. In the new house, you will then live again with the desired layout.
