Hello everyone,
we are currently quite advanced in the construction planning/approval phase, building a single-family house in the rear part of a plot (56x18m). At the back, because in the front area existing buildings such as garages, outbuildings, and building windows make it necessary.
This would mean that we have to build a construction road about 35m long on strongly clayey soil, which we would then dismantle again afterwards (we want to use the garden and not have a road).
Currently, about €20,000 is budgeted for earthworks and gravel as well as its disposal, just for the construction road!
And I think to myself, it must be possible to do it cheaper.
My idea is to lay the driving tracks and the crane parking space at the back myself with concrete grass grid stones. The stones could be given away over time after the construction is finished and dismantled if necessary, and I would have no disposal costs.
I would lay the stones (600x400x100) with the 600mm width per track.
I would compact the clay soil and excavate the depth for the stones beforehand.
This should be significantly cheaper overall, around €2000.
My question is whether you know someone who has already done this?
Or of course what you think of the idea. Or also, what construction companies usually think about this implementation.
Since the path will be dismantled again at the end of the construction project, it does not personally matter to me if the stones stand crooked or partially sink over time. Or if I have to take the stones out in places to reset them. Construction vehicles should be able to pass over without getting stuck, nothing more.
Thanks in advance for your answers and assessments/experiences.
Best regards
Thomas
