chris87, in your initial question you describe your personal income and asset situation in 2/3 of the text and wanted to know whether this is a realistic undertaking.

Therefore, all inquiries so far are more than justified. Otherwise, please formulate the question more precisely.

Hm, I’m just asking myself why in forums in general, and especially in a forum like this one, it always quickly leads to personal attacks and comments.

Tip: If a question contains too much prose, you can pick out the essence and respond to that, if you want. And if you don’t like it, you can simply leave it. If you proceed this way, you can quickly get to the point with the asker in a factual manner. THAT is what makes the value of a forum.

Another tip: Assuming that the majority of the questions raised in this forum are not faked, one should always consider that the questions often come from people who are not yet very familiar with the topic and therefore may not immediately know what is essential and what is not. Then again applies --> Tip 1

Who asks a question on the internet does not always get the answer they wanted.

Just wanted to check in again since we have now been living in the house for about 3 years. The floor plan of the house has still changed significantly (somewhat smaller, about 140sqm + basement). I bought a plot very early on. (July 15?) We ended up with construction costs including the plot at €440,000 including incidental costs and partial furnishings (kitchen, bedroom, and whatever else is new). Of that, €420,000 was financed. Later on, additional costs for outdoor facilities, carport, etc. were incurred.

The targeted repayment rate amounts to €1800 and is higher than initially planned because our income had improved very positively by the time the contract was signed. Completing the financing was not a problem since I was still a "regular employee" at that time, but the banker also advised me to get the financing secured before taking over the company. Currently, we are repaying significantly more; we also do not have children yet and want to enjoy life a bit more.

In retrospect, I am extremely glad that we took the step into homeownership. This freedom is simply a new quality of life. However, I can now also better understand the critical voices than I could in 2015.
