Hello,

I am planning to start building my single-family house next year and wanted to apply for the natural gas connection soon.
Now, it is such that I am planning a double carport next to my HAR, where the pipeline outlet is located. After consulting with the network company, it is not preferred that pipelines be built over (not only gas, but also others).

What are your experiences with this issue? I have only just heard about it; my architect didn’t tell me anything about it. The pipelines can only exit the house at the spot where the carport is supposed to be. I am now considering making 2 parking spaces one behind the other instead of side by side to keep the pipeline clear, or is that not sensible? In case of a malfunction, the interlocking pavement would have to be torn up at my expense.

I have attached a sketch of the pipeline route and the carport location.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Building over house connection lines is indeed not appreciated; however, in the case of a simple carport open on at least 2 sides, in my opinion it is not prohibited, as long as a) you assume the increased costs due to the obstruction in case of a fault, and b) you do not place deep point or strip foundations directly on the lines or within their protection zones. Additional protective measures may also need to be taken.

It also affects more lines. I would actually consider that. With the way technology is currently changing, you always have to expect that new cables or lines will be needed. What about the water connections?

I would also find 2 cars one behind the other annoying. Can't you put the HAR in the north of the house?

All lines exit on the side, including water connections.
Unfortunately, I haven't thought of a better solution yet, except maybe moving the parking space at the house further forward to the street (however, a carport might not be possible there due to the building line) and then building only a single carport at the property boundary. Unfortunately, there is also a street lamp on the road at the front and a sewage shaft.

Unfortunately, I can no longer move the HAR; the building permit has already been issued.

I believe the building authority is only interested in the exterior dimensions and elevations. Inside, as far as I know, they don't care. But overbuilt pipes, they are less relaxed about that.

I don't really want to change anything in the interior layout anymore; I'd rather find another solution (such as changing the parking spaces). And isn't it often the case that in many houses the utility room (HAR) adjoins the garage, etc., so that pipelines get encroached upon, unless the utility room borders two exterior walls?
