The situation is familiar to me and annoying. With our first house, a terraced house, there was a 12-month difference between the initially promised completion date and moving in. This was especially emotionally taxing. If the build quality is good, it is quickly forgotten after moving in. Then let the magic of your first own four walls work on you.

Off to the lawyer .... Everything else here is pure speculation, and in particular, how to set the deadline correctly and that it should be set should be made clear to them

Hello, we are in the same situation. The construction company simply does not continue to work, you have to carry them to the construction site. However, they constantly take on new construction sites and work there. We now have a delay of 5 months. Fortunately, we are now going to a lawyer, have set a deadline, are looking for alternative providers and then will have the work carried out by way of substitute performance. We will then have to litigate the additional costs of the new contractor compared to the old one.
