Consideration: Good heat source OR low heating demand

Hello everyone! Would the following be a sensible consideration: If I invest in geothermal energy (deep drilling or shallow geothermal energy), I don't necessarily need the KfW-55 standard; KfW-100 might even be sufficient because I can access thermal energy very efficiently and cost-effectively, and the savings potential through better insulation, etc., is then not that significant anymore. If I invest in KfW-55, I don't need geothermal energy because I only need a little thermal energy anyway and can use heat sources that are rather inefficient or more expensive in operation (gas boiler with solar thermal or air-to-water heat pump). So, in short: Either ensure a good heat source or ensure low heating demand. (The savings potential when combining both is rather low.) Best regards jx7

Hello,

That always depends on the respective point of view. For me, both options lie beyond amortization; therefore, I would always choose the economically sensible way.

Then said like this: Both measures individually are economically possibly already questionable, the combination of both measures even more so, because the savings potential becomes even smaller and the amortization thus even more questionable. But of course: It always depends on the individual case in detail (climate, house size, heating behavior, soil condition, roof orientation,...)

Hello,

That must somehow be a men thing...

Objectively considered, building a house never pays off. The first years you have peace; reserves for the worst case still have to be built up; the garden is cultivated. From about 12 years on, the first replacements of the – then also – outdated technology begin, flow temperature, new interior doors, tiles, carpet etc. What no young farmer can imagine becomes increasingly realistic in the course of time: namely that – when the offspring has left the nest – the home suddenly seems big and empty. Not rarely everything is then reset and the building project begins anew.

So if you are looking for amortization, give up building a house and remain a tenant. It also spares your nerves and the nest can be changed more easily if nasty neighbors belong to the view.

Rhenish greetings

Well, building expert - you are certainly right about house construction as such - but I do understand jx7's question. The leap from Kfw70 to a real passive house, for example, is financially huge - for that, the heating/hot water generator plays a rather minor role. Maybe a KFW70 house with a more expensive ground-source heat pump? Significantly lower investment in the house and a bit more in the heating system? And then calculated over the years... - taking into account factors such as climate region, house size, occupants, etc....

Hello,

With my answer, I wanted to make clear that there can be no amortization in new construction. How much "more" above the "necessary" / "economic" or also the share of "green conscience" everyone must decide for themselves based on their preferences/budget ;)

Rhenish regards
