Hello

I need help again.

After decades without a ceiling lamp, I have now bought an LED ceiling light. (Metal and plastic)
This can be turned on and off or dimmed using a remote control.

The original light switch is therefore (probably) not needed.

But now my question about this.

Built in 1963. Several cables are hanging from the ceiling here. I don’t know now which one needs to be connected where with the lamp.

I am attaching 2 photos for clarification.

Many thanks in advance for helpful answers.

Best regards

PS: Of course the fuse will be switched off beforehand :)

Brown or red? Red was the earth until the mid-60s = today green-yellow L black and gray N. No idea what the green attachment is supposed to be. But be careful - everything can be different in old buildings ;)

Best to measure it through. Or check where/how the other end of the cable is connected.

Measure - or (would be my favorite here) have an electrician do it. It's a truism, but a lot can go wrong. The green cable can be a jumper. In old circuits, sometimes the neutral conductor was used simultaneously as a protective conductor (classic neutral grounding) and then the earth (if present) was also connected. Today, a no-go, at least quite a delicate matter.

Are there electricians who come out to measure a cable? Are there people who actually call an electrician for that?

The pragmatist simply takes the lamp and touches the cables (ground is not needed for trial and error). 15 seconds and you know how the current flows.
