Hello,

we are planning to build soon. Since we are building a Kfw70 house with 30cm Ytong exterior stones and therefore no insulation will be added to the facade, my question is whether I can lay the clinker bricks directly on the Ytong or if I need to leave a 1-2cm gap?!?

My concern is that if I use clinker veneers, they are glued directly to the Ytong, but the normal 11.5cm clinker bricks are usually laid with a certain distance. Unfortunately, I only find information for cases where insulation is used, which I do not want because there is a lot of negative feedback about it, such as mold, moisture, etc...

So, glue clinker directly to Ytong or with a gap?

I hope someone can help me?!?

Hello,

Kfw 70 with 30cm bricks is hardly achievable; unless you are building in a sunny country

Therefore, you should clarify these parameters first before you start with the topic of facing bricks.

We are building a bungalow 108 with Town & Country, underfloor heating, 40cm roof insulation, triple glazing, and everything else that belongs to it. The consultant told us that instead of a 24cm Ytong wall with insulation, he would recommend a 30cm wall without insulation. That way, the Kfw70 standard could be easily reached... so did he lie to us? Because I always read here about 36.5cm blocks... or is it due to the thick roof insulation combined with the underfloor heating and thick floor slab. Town & Country would be shooting themselves in the foot if they lied to us here...

Hello,

What am I supposed to imagine under that?

How thick is this marvel of engineering supposed to be?

I can recommend you to search the web for construction diaries of this provider; that will surely help you regarding the existence of statements.

I was wrong, sorry, it’s only 24cm roof insulation...

Unfortunately, I can only find information about the slab like concrete quality C25/30

Then also floor approx. 85mm thermal insulation (PS rigid foam, WLG 035) approx. 45mm cement screed
