I don’t know what kind of palaces you live in, but generally, I would never claim that 43 m² is "not ample" or "very tiny". You just have to think a bit about which furniture you want to place where, how much space it requires, etc., but you have to do that with 50, 60, or 70 m² just the same. However, I agree that you shouldn’t start thinking about these things only on the day of moving in.

Yes, this is once again the living space aristocracy. However, I would also say that an island kitchen no longer allows for more sensible furnishing with a full-sized dining table. Alternatively, if that is more important to someone, then the sofa area has to be smaller. This is quite conceivable if the typical home cinema wall is missing, which is by no means a priority everywhere.

We also only planned 43 sqm, but deliberately because we wanted a cozy living/dining/cooking area. The first walls are already built and we are super satisfied. However, we have an L shape and carefully drew everything in advance with furniture. If it were narrower and wider for you, the island kitchen would have worked too, so I would continue planning variant 2. What I don’t like is the TV squeezed in between like that. Maybe better to put the sofa in front of the window?

So what now? Narrower or wider?

Narrower longer would be the logic
