That should surprise me, why shouldn't that work? The statement from the notary back then was even that we can transfer the shares retrospectively.

You can do that by side agreement. However, nothing will be entered in the land register. It is a kind of declaration of division.

But the ownership shares are now recorded as 50/50 between me and my partner in the land register, so why should entries in the land register not be changeable? Or are we talking about different things? We purchased the property together and are both listed as owners. Just with the wrong shares.

Of course, that can be changed. Ask a notary about the costs. The usual way seems to be through the lawyer, which could also be cheaper.
