Small off-topic question out of interest: why do people have something like that installed?
In addition to the advantages already mentioned by , I would also like to point out that the devices are quieter. When operating, you only hear the airflow because the central unit is located in the basement. And even though I can’t judge this from my own experience yet: they are said to be significantly more durable than ordinary vacuum cleaners.
The necessary piping can be installed very cost-effectively together with the other lines (electricity/heating/water) (material + labor ~300€). We installed a total of 4 sockets over 180m² with split levels and therefore get by with a 6m hose, which can even be used in the driveway. That’s quite a handling advantage compared to our previous vacuums. Of course, you have to switch connections.
I believe that, all in all, you can certainly be happy with a cordless vacuum cleaner as well, depending on how you weigh the respective pros and cons. However, I think that with comparably powerful devices, that is considerably more expensive in the long run.
