hello everyone.

We will build a single-family house according to KfW55. It will have a basement, ground floor, and upper floor.
The living area is approximately 170m² and the usable area 108m² (stairs, basement), that’s the information.

Now we are asking ourselves which ventilation system to choose. Since in a new building the houses are so airtight because of the windows and insulation.

We were recommended a decentralized system because it would be completely sufficient and it doesn’t need to be maintained or cleaned as often. In addition, cleaning is easier and more trouble-free than with a centralized ventilation system.

Can you help us from your point of view or experience which ventilation system is suitable?

We thank you very much

Hi,
For a new build, I would always go for a central system.
The idea that you have to maintain it more frequently is nonsense.
With the central system, you just change some filters every 6 months and that’s it. There’s nothing more to do. Also, no pipes get dirty. And you will also change filters every 6 months with a decentralized system.
With decentralized systems, you have to deal with a significant noise problem (not just the ventilation noise itself, much worse are the holes in the walls through which you hear external noise much more clearly inside the house) and with the issue of how to dispose of the condensate water.

Best regards,

Andreas

Since the filters of a decentralized system are generally smaller, replacement is also necessary more often than twice a year.

Thanks first of all for the answers.

Does anyone of you know which decentralized ventilation systems are the quietest in terms of noise level?

He is asking about the quietest decentral system. I am not familiar with that and did not want it in the new building. If the provider insists on decentralized with the described arguments, I would look for another homebuilder.
