Hello@all.

We want to buy a house (already completed). However, about 40 meters next to the house there is a mobile phone mast with several antennas.

Buy or leave it? How would you decide.

Counter-question: do you believe that this will cause you to sleep poorly or get cancer? If yes, then leave it because obviously facts haven't been able to convince you so far. If you are unsure and you like the house, buy it. There is no scientific evidence that mobile phone masts (apart from the nocebo effect) are actually harmful. Maybe unattractive, but not dangerous.

If you are afraid of radiation, you should take a look at where masts are located everywhere. Then you might jump straight into the grave or move to the Arctic ;-) Oh yes, then please also don’t use mobile phones, only cook on gas, don’t bring WLAN and power lines into the house, etc. You have a higher exposure than from the mast. If the property is good and you like it, buy it.

Search for the NTP study or Ramazzini study. You can also find something about the former on the website of the Bundesamt für Strahlenschutz. There are indications, but (still) no evidence regarding a harmful health effect.

You can imagine what it would mean for the value of your property if there were ever more concrete/unpleasant findings from long-term studies.

On the website of the Federal Office for Radiation Protection, it says:

The BfS therefore continues to assume that when the limit values are adhered to, no negative health effects from electromagnetic fields with frequencies used by mobile communications are to be expected.

Regarding the NTP study:

The so-called NTP study is a long-term study on mice and rats to identify possible dangers of high whole-body exposure to mobile communication fields. The NTP authors conclude that there is clear evidence related to exposure (highest level of evidence) for the occurrence of heart tumors and moderate evidence for the occurrence of brain tumors and diseases of the adrenal medulla in male rats.

The animal experiments are whole-body exposures that are approximately 20 times or more above the limit values for whole-body exposures applicable to the general population. For this reason, they cannot be transferred to mobile communication exposures occurring in human everyday life.

I would not let myself get worked up.

I was referring to this:

[*]In contrast, the BfS sees, after careful analysis of the diverse results, indications but no clear or moderate evidence for a carcinogenic effect at high whole-body exposures - significantly above the limit values.

This is the current state of affairs. What it will be in 15-20 years, no one knows. Everyone must weigh this risk for themselves.
