I'll first go back to the beginning with the question of how big the spots should be. Once you have answered this question, you look for suitable spots and their illuminance. Then you get the table with the recommended light levels depending on the room type. And when you know how much you need, you distribute them harmoniously in the room. For example, I have the 180mm cans with 155mm spots and for 60sqm kitchen/living room I have 12 pieces plus a pendant lamp for the dining area.

Hello,

in my opinion, way too many spots, has already summarized it well.

Spots are placed either along the walking path or near the walls. Above the sofa corner, spots can be installed, a total of four pieces, as in plan 2. I consider all other spots unnecessary. If it has to be, then three more spots in line with the entrance as a kind of hallway lighting. Above the dining table fits a pendant light (or several, in this case I would mount a track).

The rest should be accented with object lights or floor lamps. Possibly one could also consider wall lights, but that quickly becomes "castle-like," like medieval torch lighting.

What is in the corner to the right of the entrance?

Best regards

At least in the form of the TV background wall, there is a room structure here, which I do not see taken into account in the "distribution pattern" of the spots.

Is there a deeper meaning to you wanting to illuminate the seats and not the table? It has the charming effect that the plate is in shadow when someone leans forward to eat or tall people generally cast shadows on the table. In my world, one hangs a nice pendant lamp above the dining table.
