Hello everyone,

our house is now built and we want to start with the outdoor facilities. Preferably doing it ourselves
However, I am currently a bit unsure about the implementation.

As can be seen in the photos, I wanted to place 8 x L-stones 1.2m x 1m on the flat area in front of the house. However, in order to align them, I would have to remove a bit of the slope, and I am somewhat afraid that the house might possibly slip. Even though the forces are rather distributed at 45°...

My main problem is supporting the side. The neighboring property (parents’ property) is basically a continuous slope, but we logically need a flat and horizontal top edge for the carport.
How would you realize this? I initially thought of L-stones as well, but it will probably be tight to set them straight. I would almost have to bury the first stones.
What is the best way to do something like this? The total length on the side would be about 12m.

A loader with a "grabber" for the L-stones and a compactor are available.
I would pay 102€ for the rear stones.

I would be very grateful for your advice

Best regards

I did not understand that now.

Looking from the front into the carport driveway, the back of the area borders your built house. The right side borders the parents' property.
Both sides need to be retained.

There seems to be no problem on the left.

You are already on the right track with L-bricks.

Have you already excavated the carport area at the back?
Then now comes the measurement for the L-brick? Meaning the L-base?

How close would you be able to get to the house with the "excavation"?

You probably don’t have a cellar, then it wouldn’t be a problem.
But you do have a concrete slab and footing, right? Because that’s what the house stands on and not on the soft sandy soil next to the house.
I wouldn’t do it during a rainy season when the ground is soft.

Excavate, set L-bricks according to the textbook, and immediately fill with gravel.

Where L stones do not work because the terrain to be retained is too flat (L stones only start at about 30cm), you use deep curbs and mortar them.
