Carport directly attached to the house? Entrance canopy for the house?

We are currently considering something similar and in almost everything we have seen in terms of images, a large carport extension with covered utility areas for bicycles, trash, etc. seems too massive and bulky to us. We would like to connect everything (carport-utility room-house entrance for dry access), but somehow we are still missing the brilliant idea. So far, we liked best a carport standing free at some distance. A little distance from the house wall definitely makes sense because of driving rain, plaster dampening, dirt, etc., or you could attach a sheet metal at the connection to the wall as a runoff. Additionally, of course, it also depends on whether you are planning a roof pitch. My concern here is rather the possibly too bulky appearance; the technical aspects could be solved.

Hi, yes really difficult considerations. To us, the big carport also seems way too bulky and for now we will do it as shown in the sketch from my post. The carport a bit longer so that the trash bins can still fit underneath. Around the corner then a shed directly attached to the carport. I think that could look quite good and we will have lots of space in front of the house. The canopy of the house was redesigned a bit larger by the architect.

Hehe, almost the same "problem" here. Since this is largely based on personal taste, I always have to see it as an image. We were told that the beautiful house is obscured by it.... which is also true. Therefore, this time it might have to be function follows form, even though I would like it differently. We'll see and I’m curious about what will come up here.

Just got the idea from the general contractor to put a double prefabricated garage with integrated trash/bike/tools... on the side of the house at the property line instead of a carport, and to plaster it in the same color as the house (stylish gray roller door). This probably makes sense for us now because then the path to the main and also side entrance is short. I found some pictures online where this was done nicely. I don’t know how it would fit your plan (south side, setback from the boundary, etc.) but maybe it is basically an idea. There was also the note that with our previous idea the carport would have to be higher than the bathroom/guest windows and would therefore look very bulky. Maybe you can move it a bit forward or backward so it doesn’t look like too wide a wall.

Our property borders directly on a large meadow belonging to my parents. I would rather not place a large garage directly in front of their view. Therefore, our idea is more towards a carport. We simply prefer the look. It will also only be a single carport, as we would lose too much space otherwise. Thanks for the tip anyway. Maybe our thinking will change on that. Who knows.

Understood; you could plant the side view, but you can see that better on site. At first, I found the idea shocking and I'm not really a car or garage type anyway. But the idea of placing it offset as a flat structure appealed to me in various pictures. Recently, I had more of a light version of a single carport in mind, because I really can't stand most of these eyesores. Let's see how this will change here.
