Hello everyone,
At the moment I am looking for a garage or carport. It should be about 9m wide and 6m long, so two cars side by side on the left and a storage space on the right. There are carport kits that are 6m wide and 9m long, which would work for me if I just "drive in from the side." The kit consists of 2x 4 supports. However, this means there would be a support between the two parking spaces that would have to be removed. For this, I would reinforce the upper crossbeam. Strong enough that it might even be able to carry a sectional door. The kit is also available with a suitable static calculation. Question: Is it possible to make the modification and have the existing static calculation recalculated by a structural engineer without much effort (and cost)? Or does it make sense to buy the part without static calculation and then have everything recalculated? The surcharge for the static calculation is about €170. I am not very familiar with the effort and prices here.
Regards Tobias.
