Can the VIKT wall light be connected directly without a switch cable?

Hello forum,

I would like to buy the VIKT LED wall lamp, but I only have power cables on the walls for connecting a normal lamp (no socket). Can the VIKT be opened and connected like a normal lamp? In Ikea, no one could (or wanted to) give me any information about this :(

Yes, that works.

You have to open it anyway for wall mounting. There you can also see very clearly how the power cable with plug is connected (terminal block). Loosen the cable with plug using 2 screws and connect the power cable coming out of the wall there.

The installation instructions for the lamp are at the following link. Take a look at them and you will see that everything is pretty self-explanatory.

The statement at IKEA was "I hardly believe that will work" :confused:

I will go and get 4 pieces tomorrow and equip my stairwell with them (hoping that the parts are bright enough).

Interesting facts
150 lumens; corresponds approximately to the luminous flux of a 15-watt incandescent bulb.

One always had 15-watt incandescent bulbs in refrigerators for lighting. In the stairwell, that might be a bit dim.
