Can the utility room be used as a food storage room despite having a heat pump?

Hi,

We want to use a heat pump in our shell house.
We don't have a basement but only a small utility room.
What does the heat development in the room look like then?
Of course, it also depends on the size of the room, obviously.

However, we would also like to use this room for washing / drying laundry and as a food storage room.
These appliances already generate heat when in use.
If the heat pump also emits heat, it will probably get too warm in our 8sqm small utility room!?

Regards

In form V for heat load calculation, you agree on the desired room temperature => room heat load. After that, the heating surfaces are then dimensioned. Both are especially important topics when it comes to heat pumps. In some cases, no heating surface is needed at all in the utility room, while in others it is. This depends, among other things, on the interior walls and ceiling used, that is, how much the room is indirectly heated by the surroundings. The type of heat pump also has an influence. Controlled residential ventilation or windows should also be taken into account.

Hi,

our utility room is even smaller. We also have the heat pump along with a 500l water tank in there. The utility room is unheated, the perceived heat emission of the pump is virtually zero.

DerDa is right. I missed that above. The moment washing and drying are also done inside, food storage is probably out of the question...

It is not called "Trockenlager" in the gastronomy industry for nothing. You could pre-steam the noodles. Then cooking goes faster.

So I could do without the food supply in an emergency. But the washing machine and dryer should definitely be included. If necessary, also with ventilation in the room or something like that.
