Can I skip using a primer when applying dispersion paint?

Hi,

I recently got my first apartment and want to paint.

My favorite is Alpina Wall Paint the Original.

The description says it is a dispersion paint. I googled the word and it is supposed to be a combination of binders and solvents, pigments, as well as fillers and additives.

But do I have to apply a primer first or can I paint directly on the rough wall?

I do have a degree in mechanical engineering and can tell you a lot about that, but when it comes to painting, I’m out, except when it’s about RAL determination...

I don’t want to have any chipping in the apartment and then have to do everything again...

I have removed the previous owner’s wallpaper without any residue.

But do I have to apply a deep primer first or can I paint directly on the rough wall?

It depends on the wall, meaning the substrate, not on the paint. The wall must be able to hold the paint.

Just painted an apartment - originally wanted Alpina Original - but then switched to silicate paint.

If you want DIY store quality (like Alpina) then Schöner Wohnen Wohlfühlweiss, if professional quality then Keim.

I found it better than emulsion paint.
Next time I would prime - for an even better result...
