Can a lift-and-slide door be as airtight as a normal door?

We got that without any problems.

Yes, such "comparisons" are often more complicated than one thinks and wants.
But that’s what the professionals are for

I’ll refresh my question:
Does anyone know a current comparison of turn and lift-and-slide doors?

Quote:
My favorites are folding sliding doors or even better outward-opening swing doors.

Folding doors are technically too complex for me (even more than “lift-and-slide,” in which I have little confidence)

Swing doors are of course significantly more solid (and I would have been very happy with a larger opening), but on the one hand, we have no space outside (only an exit for window cleaning), on the other hand, the lift-and-slide doors have already been ordered, so for this reason alone there can be nothing better ... ;)

With the old profile system, we no longer did, for all other elements that was not a problem, also not for the lift-and-slide elements because of the package thickness, but because of the weight, we would have had to redesign the profile. Buying lift-and-slide elements was then the easier way than the exhumation of the old designer ;-)

for my feeling, this is a weak point of our model. The running rail is made of aluminum (thankfully without visible dents for 2 years now). I think it should be made of stainless steel

Excuse the slight off-topic, but a quick side question here: Are there still manufacturers / distributors in Germany with outward opening hinged doors? Unfortunately, Velfac has withdrawn from the German market. Otherwise, I haven’t found any others.

In principle, you can simply reverse the elements. The handle hole is drilled through from the other side, the condensation water drains have to be installed differently, and due to burglary protection, you have to come up with something for the fittings.

No German sales office, no German order forms. But they will still export here, and they probably have German-speaking people. So feel free to have your window dealer inquire there. Why should it be harder to correspond with a Scandinavian manufacturer than with a Polish or Slovak one?

Yes, almost every manufacturer can deliver that. As already mentioned, the doors are mainly simply reversed for that purpose. At first, no one wanted to sell them to me because they are supposedly not burglar-proof. I still have such a door now because it fits best and can also be properly closed from the outside.
