Hello,
we have purchased a former cornfield and plan to build a house and garden on it.
The corn stalks still protrude about 10-15 cm from the ground,
the previous owner (farmer) said he will chop them up for us,
so that the soil is even and only covered with corn straw, the roots remain in the ground.
Now the question:
does anyone of you have experience with something like this?
Can the roots still cause problems later when building / landscaping the garden?
Plowing, according to the builder / farmer, does not make sense because the soil would become too soft / unstable.
