Again: every body has different needs. You can possibly check Stiftung Warentest, but now coming up with a product you know from advertising? Go to a furniture store or several and try out: no one here can tell you what you need.

A box spring bed, for example, would never come into my bedroom. I love my adjustable slatted frame (head and foot section).

Hi,
we faced the same decision some time ago.

Boxspring bed: super comfortable, everything coordinated, gives the typical "hotel bed feeling." Disadvantage: you are less flexible if you don’t like the mattress or the topper.

Solid wood bed: very durable, sustainable, and you can freely choose mattress + slatted frame. It requires a bit more research, but it is more individual and usually cheaper.

We decided on a solid wood bed because flexibility was important to us. But in the end, it depends on whether you want a ready-made comfort solution or prefer to combine it yourself.

We were advised against a box spring bed. I don't remember why, but in the end, we bought a solid oak bed from a local store with an adjustable slatted frame for my wife's side. Additionally, two mattresses measured and adjusted to our bodies. I also find it visually nicer than a box spring bed, but that's up to each individual. The height was adjusted a bit upwards. And it is an extra length of 160x220cm. I find it not exactly cheap at 5500€, but such mattresses do cost a bit. I work shifts, so it was okay for me to spend more on it. The bed frame will probably be kept forever and the mattresses will just be renewed.

I hope that the thread starters have meanwhile found a suitable bed. Our box spring bed is in the meantime two and a half years older and still very comfortable.

Our box spring bed is now about 7 years old and we wouldn’t want to miss it for a single day. We also chose a special mattress with different firmness levels. It still fits perfectly today and we enjoy "our bed" every day.
