You don't seem to be particularly close.. I would make the father disappear or deport him and sell the place.

There is no question of disappearing. Thanks to the right of residence, the father is allowed to stay in the house for the rest of his life.

yes and ... you can sell a house along with the right of residence... it does narrow the market.. BUT if the right cultural groups buy it and then move in with 20 relatives, it brings life into the place :)
