Hello everyone,

we have installed the S1 series from Berker in the house. Now we have a toddler. I fitted the sockets with those usual protective covers, but I find them a bit inconvenient when you want to plug in, for example, the vacuum cleaner. It also doesn’t sit as firmly and therefore sometimes slips out more often.
Berker offers special sockets with child protection. Does anyone have them? Do they completely replace this kind of protection? I would like to replace at least a few sockets if the protection is sufficient. Thanks

I don't know the Berker by heart. With the others, there is a small flap behind the cover that only opens when both holes are pressed simultaneously. It is very unlikely that a small child can manage this. There are no restrictions to be seen in daily use.

It doesn't matter which manufacturer they are from. They are all the same - as boderpuschl already writes. Sufficient for toddlers. It actually makes sense to always install them. They cost no more than "normal" sockets except for a few cents extra. And you have a good feeling - whether you are young and children could come, whether you have some or maybe are already older and grandchildren could come.

Good morning!

The S1 with child protection will be installed by us next week, then I will know more. However, the sockets currently cost only 4-5 EUR in retail, so if I were you, I would simply order and install 1-2 to convince yourself of the functionality :)

Thanks. That already sounds good.
As I said, I would only want to replace a few sockets in the house where the vacuum cleaner is often plugged in. It would be more practical to have sockets with integrated protection.
I assume the system is similar across the different manufacturers.

We have installed the S1 throughout the house with touch protection. It is as described, a black plastic cover conceals the open contacts and opens when both poles are pressed simultaneously. Fully suitable as protection for children and animals. Only the resistance when plugging in is slightly higher than with uncovered sockets.

With the glued retrofit inserts, you have to turn the plug, which really annoyed me with sockets that were hard to reach under desks or elsewhere.
