Good day,
we do not have a floor plan yet. Rather, we are currently in the process of addressing fundamental questions. In the preferred construction area, according to the development plan, saddle roof houses must be built. However, the plot size is relatively small, so we want to plan efficiently.
To get as much living space as possible out of the house, we want to plan smartly but also with a future-oriented approach. From my parents' house, I know that the attic was used as storage space and as a playroom for the children. However, the playroom was only used by the children for 10 years. After that, this room was either unused or also used as storage. For these reasons, we considered permanently including the 2nd upper floor under the roof in the planning in order to realize larger rooms on the 1st upper floor.
The attic has special characteristics with a saddle roof. The room practically only has vertical surfaces at the front and rear gables; the sides are each marked by the slopes. In other words, there is not much effective space available. For us, it is out of the question to set up a bedroom or office in the attic because temperatures under the roof can become unbearable in summer.
So the idea came to us to build the bathroom in the attic at the gable. With many roof windows, the room would be bright and easy to ventilate quickly. Furthermore, this would make a "sky shower" possible by installing a roof window above the shower.
What is actually against having a bathroom in the attic? Obviously, this idea is unusual, especially since we have never seen a bathroom in an attic. But the idea does not let us go.
