Hello

I am currently in the process of buying a house

New build 147 sqm + 45 sqm basement
KFW 55
Basement heated

Basement rooms: laundry/utility room, storage room, and probably home gym or storage room (more likely home gym)

The standard house has low-temperature radiators in the basement
For an additional cost of about 2600€, the entire basement can be equipped with underfloor heating

What is better in the basement? Is the extra cost for underfloor heating worth it or not

What are the advantages and disadvantages of both heating systems?

There is no generally better or worse. If it is going to be a playroom for small kids or similar, then better underfloor heating. Otherwise, radiators are sufficient. BUT: These should be adapted to low flow temperatures. Proper planning is very important here (for example, real low-temperature radiators explicitly designed for heat pumps with 30-degree flow temperature will certainly not be installed in your case. They are really expensive.). Otherwise, the additional cost is not high. Therefore, I would choose underfloor heating if it fits into the budget. Underfloor heating allows for lower flow temperatures (tends to lower heating costs). Subjectively more pleasant warmth. Warm floor (at least it doesn't feel cold like tiles with normal radiators). Higher resale value for the house due to significantly higher equipment. Both variants warm up.

Degrees in the basement, underfloor heating is very valuable. Definitely do that. The floor is coldest there.

Thank you for your quick response

I was told that low-temperature radiators are to be installed
We do not have a heat pump but are connected to a local heating network with a combined heat and power plant (is mandatory)

With the moderate surcharge, I would recommend (after the first winter with a low-temperature radiator in a side room adjacent to the residential building and underfloor heating in the basement) underfloor heating (heating-technical room possibly completely without an additional heat source): no noise from fans, walls free, floor and wall area floor warm

With us, after just four months, a fan of the (expensive) Jaga Strada Hybrid already had a bearing damage

ok I also think the underfloor heating would be worth the extra cost

I don't have heating in the basement just a transfer station where we get the hot water from + 150L hot water tank
We are connected to a local heating network of the city utilities (unfortunately it was mandatory)

Has anyone of you already had experience with local heating?

The low-temperature radiators are not recommended? they even have extra fans installed? (so far I only had the usual old radiators)

May I ask you how to best set the underfloor heating in summer? do you just leave it running?
