Hello, we are building a single-family house with geothermal energy with KfW40plus (before July 2021) and the expired BAFA funding for the geothermal heat pump. I vaguely remember that in one of the two funding lines the use of a heat pump tariff with the electricity supplier was excluded. But somehow I can't find anything about this in the funding guidelines anymore. Does anyone possibly know more about this? Best regards, thebinf

I am not aware of anything like that at the moment, but if I were you, I would double-check exactly whether it is really worth it. With the building envelope, you already have a low energy demand, especially with geothermal energy, and you also have part of it coming from photovoltaics. You quickly reach a point where a second meter hardly justifies its cost. We have the same setup and plan with one meter.

I can confirm, we have been living here since 08.2021 and have the same setup with a brine-water heat pump (but onTop Passive House ;)), extra tariff / meter is not worth it. Mandatory as far as I know is a "green electricity tariff". For this reason, we have GreenPlanet Energy (GreenPeace), they are currently even very cheap with under 30 cents for the e-car tariff, up to 31.9 cents (but no longer taking new customers).

An extra heat pump meter is not worth it if you are planning a photovoltaic system. Because the electrician told me that you cannot then run the heat pump with photovoltaics. Thus, the savings for heating and especially hot water through photovoltaics are lost...

The keyword for this is cascade connection

Thank you for the answers. We actually did not want the extra meter, but it was already included in the construction contract without us knowing and was installed that way. For the use of the photovoltaic system for the heat pump, the whole thing is to be converted into a cascade circuit. Possibly, we want to deactivate the meter after one year if we no longer need it to prove the annual performance factor of the heat pump.
