Hello everyone,
I enjoy reading the forum and now wanted to get your opinion as well. We are in the process of determining the ceiling outlets for the upcoming shell construction. In the bathroom/bathrooms, I am a bit unsure about how and where the spots should go. I look forward to your tips and advice. If it’s not clear, the doors are on the left, the windows on the right. The left floor plan is on the upper floor, the right one in the attic (suspended ceiling due to pitched roof).

So far, I have planned 4 (2x2) spots for about 6sqm (approx. 3.2x1.8m), dimmable, as one switching group (?), with 60cm distance from the wall on the left and 60cm horizontal to the next row, 80cm above/below to the wall. Of course, the mirrors will have their own lighting, switchable separately.

What I’m unsure about:

[*]Is there enough light in the shower (1 spot) and is it well positioned (we will not have a rain shower, but a handheld shower).
[*]Does the spot above the toilet cause glare? (I like to read)
[*]Is it too bright/glare in the bathtub (even though dimmable).
[*]Does it make sense to have two switching groups (top/bottom)?
[*]It should actually be bright enough, right? 6sqm with 4 spots, even if they are not fixed yet.
[*]Less spots, less money. Are 3 spots (in line) enough in your opinion?

Even if you didn't ask for it. Just don't do spotlights. That's such a 90s thing. I would personally recommend and find nicer a large plain light panel that is dimmable, as well as additional wall (or mirror) lighting (it's also cheaper).

Yes, I can understand the objection "from the 90s." That’s where I come from too (well, from the 80s).

Would you have a good suggestion for a panel? I’m thinking of Ledvance, but they are IP20 and not suitable for the bathroom, as far as I have found.

We also have four spots for 6m², but they are not dimmable. That is completely sufficient. If less lighting is desired, we turn off the spots and use the lighting from the mirrored cabinet. However, this is dimmable.

I am myself a child of the 80s, yet not everything in the 80s or 90s was good (but I would definitely like to have Queen with Freddie Mercury back).

I wouldn’t know that ceiling lights, except in a closed shower area (which is not the case with you), require a special water protection class. Normally, they should be more than 2.4m away from the nearest water outlet (no longer a protection zone). At some point, I stocked up at Kaufland with panels for 40 EUR. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend those now, especially because they are not in the standard assortment. But I also wouldn’t specifically recommend anything, I would simply take the cheapest option that still looks good and can possibly be adjusted in light color and brightness.

We have two round surface panels of 14m2 each with 2000 lm for pin searching and reading, a dimmable mirror cabinet, LED strips on the sauna, and a night light with motion detector to avoid waking up at night in the toilet.
