You are absolutely right, I definitely want a beautiful natural garden later with plenty of habitat for insects and co, and some weeds in the lawn don’t bother me either.

Then just confidently cover everything with cardboard. You can leave it there, it will rot over time and provide good food for the earthworms. The additional soil can be placed on the cardboard later. When choosing cardboard, make sure it is not too brightly printed.
