Hello everyone,

I noticed a draft in our bathroom and found that the window is no longer sealing properly in one corner. I can grip the corner with my fingers and pull it out so far that a finger can peek outside. The bottom corner does not move a millimeter. However, there are no visible damages or other signs on the window, seals, etc. The only damage currently is that the window does not close properly in the corner that is supposed to open. When closed, I can now lift the window slightly if I push it up by the handle. It could also be that someone leaned on the open window. Since it is a smaller window in the bathroom, this is rather unlikely.

We are now wondering what is more probable. Did someone try to open the window (burglar-resistant with mushroom head) or did someone probably hang on the window when it was open. Hm..

Windows usually open inward. How is the forum supposed to know if any of you have hung yourself from one of your windows? Is the window on the ground floor? Is it big enough for a break-in?

Which answer do you want to hear? "Yes, it was an attempted break-in" or rather a "No"?

What exactly is that supposed to change?

No, then rather likely, if it is not visible from the street. Probably not, because then you would be able to detect lever marks in some way. Wooden window? Plastic window? So someone from your family? Then gather your family together - let's see who confesses :D Cool, here we call the police and report an attempted break-in so that the police (in this case as an expert) can check it.

Perhaps someone here is familiar with the topic and knows, for example, that a break-in leaves no traces and that the damage pattern may indicate an attempt.

They are plastic windows and since it was neither my wife nor me, I exclude the family? The children are too small ;-)

If I had felt or seen anything, I would have called the police, but you simply can't see anything and since I couldn't find anything conclusive online, I decided to rely on the collective ;-)

The window faces the street, but since it is a new development area and we still have no neighbors opposite or next to us, it would be conceivable.

see #3, me. That point almost leads to excluding a criminal act. Especially in combination with a new housing development and Corona patrols. ...with mushroom head... you already need a bit more brute force using a lever tool, which definitely first shows on the plastic (outside, e.g. on the frame) before the window sash is damaged. Take another look at the door hinges or on the outside, whether any manipulations can be detected there. yeah yeah... they all say that... I suspect a warranty issue with a defective window in a new building.
