Hello!

I would like to ask for your advice on the following topic:

My new apartment will be completed at the beginning of 2017 and we are currently clarifying details about the bathroom. We want to use the bathtub in the main bathroom also as a shower and wanted to install the bathtub fittings and the showerhead at the head end of the tub. Now the architects advise against this arrangement. The "round" part of the tub is at the head end, meaning from the wall to the flat area of the tub floor (where you stand) is about 46 cm. So the showerhead will probably barely reach my head. The most sensible thing is to arrange the fittings/shower rail on the side of the tub. I find that rather odd. A friend who is also an architect recommends the arrangement at the head end. Now we are a bit uncertain and find almost no discussions about this topic online.

What do you think?

Best regards,
IAS

We also have a bathtub that is intended to be used as a shower. The head end of the bathtub is slanted, so you cannot stand there. Therefore, the shower rod there would be ridiculous. We have chosen a bathtub in which a) two people can bathe and b) one can stand well. The foot end consequently has a good width, so there is space there, not just for feet. The shower rod is installed on the long side about one third from the foot end. The bathtub faucet is also there. Everything is fine. On the short side, the shower faucet would be wrong if you plan a foldable shower screen.

If you want to bathe together more often, installing [eine Installation in der Mitte der Länggseite] makes quite a bit of sense because then both have their heads free - in the truest sense of the word. In my case, the fittings and shower rail are at the foot end of the bathtub, which is also used as a shower. Can't you just turn the tub so that your feet point towards the fittings?

To bathe as a pair, one should know how big (and also how the limbs and torso are shaped) the two bathers and the bathtub itself are.

And how often one really bathes together...

We initially had the Duo from Kaldewei, but meanwhile we will probably resort to one side being slanted, the other side round, because we bathe alone (180 cm tub, both 175/180 cm tall, and that would require a 200 cm tub to lie somewhat comfortably).

Therefore, the faucet is also at the foot end, TV above it, and off we go.
