Are Fischer dowels recommended for Poroton bricks?

Hello everyone,

our construction phase is slowly coming to an end and of course we are already planning the next steps. Every now and then, the topic of drilling comes up, especially when I think about our sectional door.

Since these Poroton bricks have such chambers (filled with mineral wool on the outside in our case), I wonder if I have to/should use special anchors to ensure everything holds securely?
You can find tons of types of anchors online, each claiming to be the best. But what are your experiences?

Thank you.

There is an app from Fischer called "Dübel Finder". There you can select what you want to do and then get the appropriate plug suggested.

I have recently used the Fischer SX and Fischer Duopower in Poroton.

We did everything with the Fischer S standard anchors. Poroton walls as well as the concrete ceilings. Everything holds like a rock and is significantly cheaper than the special anchors.

I also have the Duopower. With it, you can securely fasten quite a few things. However, it is also relatively expensive, precisely because it is more of a universal plug. I don't think much of the simple S or SX plugs; I would only use them to hang light objects like pictures on the wall. For kitchen cabinets, sanitary fixtures, and heavy shelves, I would definitely use special M8 or M10 plugs from Würth/Hilti. If your Poroton bricks have very narrow webs, injection plugs are recommended; otherwise, the Poroton might crumble under load.

The success begins with the drill. However, if you have Ytong, it is also crumbly. I drill slowly and with steel drill bits, the sharp ones. This gives fine, clean holes into which the plug fits tightly. With the screw inside, it then holds firmly. Bathroom cabinet, for example. Wardrobe, for example. Karsten

Just ask the brick manufacturer if they have any information about it. I could imagine that there are tests for that.

The anchor manufacturers have quite a range of products. For very high loads, I would go for injection anchors in bricks, even though they cost money. For normal loads, there are frame anchors. I would be cautious about the load values that the manufacturers specify. These are usually based on standard (DIN) bricks, but due to energy saving regulations, almost no standard DIN bricks are installed or manufactured anymore. The new types simply have very thin webs, which negatively affects the load-bearing capacity. The most important thing is: turn off the hammer drilling!!!

What exactly is your brick type?
