Are additional costs for wood-look floor tiles normal?

Hello

you just have to break down the calculation here: bigger tiles, more weight. You might have to work with a lifting device. The extra effort costs money.
Now the counter-calculation: with larger tiles, the installation work is completed faster. There are fewer cutting tasks. Less grouting is needed.
Actually, the installation price per square meter should be cheaper with large tiles.

The adhesive for large tiles is more expensive and at least two tilers are needed for installation, the waste is also greater.

Hello Curly

that will be added to the invoice.
Although, why should the adhesive be different for larger tiles? The thickness of the adhesive should also remain the same. The waste can be more, but doesn't have to be. It can also be less. Planning is required here.
I agree with you about the second man. My tiler came with a second man right away. That was the usual practice. No matter how big the tiles are.

There is special adhesive for large-format tiles. The adhesive is less pressed down by the weight of the large tiles. The adhesive also needs to dry differently because with large tiles there are fewer joints and normal tile adhesive would not dry properly in the middle of the tiles, the tiler explained to me.

Hello Curly

ok. that has to be included in the calculation.
I still doubt that the additional cost of almost 30 euros per m² for laying large-volume tiles compared to smaller ones is justified. I assume the tiler is just going all out.

I think so too, at the moment everyone wants large tiles, so you can also ask for good prices.

Best regards
