Thank you again for all the comments. We have learned a lot. Here is a small update.

It turned out that the architect basically just obtained a quote for four trades each. Without a bill of quantities and mostly even without a description of what was to be done. Attached as an example is the electrical quote. Based on these quotes and with a lot of "rough estimates," he then probably created the "cost calculation" in service phase 3. When confronted with concrete inquiries about how the significant discrepancy between the cost estimate and calculation could come about, the following comment was made, among others: "If you had told me three months ago that a bathroom would be this expensive, I wouldn’t have believed it either."

We then requested improvements from him in writing and set a deadline. After the last deadline passed, he sent a termination for cause. We are currently demanding a portion of the already paid fees back through our lawyer.

At the same time, we are carrying out the renovation based on the planning created up to that point with a general contractor and architect from our extended circle of acquaintances. The flat-rate offer is priced slightly below the last cost calculation. And the new energy consultant was able to raise the standard to KfW 55 = more funding. The work is progressing swiftly and the cooperation with all parties involved is harmonious and uncomplicated. At the current pace, the place will be ready to move in by early summer at the latest.
