Hello everyone,

I have a question about the approximate costs.

The plot is currently 50 cm below street level.
On 550 sqm, 30 cm of sand must be filled, and after the house construction and the exterior work, around 300 sqm must be filled with 30 cm of topsoil.

I am now looking for offers and would be interested in knowing what amounts I should expect based on the experiences of the forum participants.

Thank you in advance.

Wall gravel or gravel sand usually costs around 10€ per ton. You need 550 sqm x 30 cm = 165 cbm, corresponding to about 300 t. Topsoil comes in different qualities, you can have bad or good luck. For us: screened topsoil, 1a quality, nicely crumbly, about 20€ per ton. So you need 300 sqm x 30 cm about 100 cbm, corresponding to about 150 tons. That totals about 6000 €. Wheel loader for spreading 3 days about 500€, plus hourly wage for construction workers. Calculate a total of 3 working days at 250€. That adds up quickly...

So for backfill sand, I still paid 7.-€ per m³ this week!!! incl. delivery. So I guess it also depends on the location...

On the topic of earthworks, excavation, filling, and landfill, etc., I now have my own opinion: It is not possible to express this topic with numbers, i.e., in €. We wanted a "hole" for our basement, it is about 3/4 underground. We have a part of the excavation as rock (soil class 7). The offers for excavation, disposal, and filling for the same property ranged from 59,000 to 13,000 euros! So in general: hard to say. Trust your gut feeling, the personal conversation with the civil engineer, and compare, compare, compare offers...

I do see differences

€1.50 concrete mineral mixture

€4.80 filling sand

That's what I have figured out so far

Soil class 7 must also be blasted. We are already talking about a completely different effort than just dredging some sand, clay, or loam.

But it doesn't have to be done more than filling it with sand? First removing the topsoil and then excavating down to stable ground? At least excavating down to frost depth?

So, does it not first go 50-100cm down and then 100-150cm up instead of just 50cm up? Put simply like that?
