Why?
Caution, no knowledge, just personal opinion: Such a tightly scheduled payment plan with so many small interim payments suggests that the general contractor may not necessarily have a lot of money saved up. These are often the cheapest providers, sometimes working exclusively with subcontractors and hardly doing any work themselves. Some of them are constantly on the edge of insolvency. Imagine it happens to you that your general contractor files for insolvency in the middle of your construction project; in the worst case, you may also have defects or have overpaid. Then you end up with a half-finished house, a bag full of problems, and you have to try to find another company to get you out of the mess. When you find one, it often won't be cheap.
