Hello everyone,

I'm reaching out to you with one of the many annoyances on our construction site. Maybe you have some advice.
We ordered our windows in Poland about three-quarters of a year ago. They were installed about half a year ago, and there were immediately some minor defects like damaged films, the corners of the films were not 100% perfect, but otherwise everything seemed okay. The windows are made according to German standards and are good in terms of quality – luckily this was confirmed to us. However, it’s different with the window sills and the aluminum shutters.
The window sills are so sensitive that they scratch just by running a fingernail over them. The shutters are so thin that they get dents from the slightest pressure.
Do we have any chance to do something about this, or have we just been unlucky? Our window sills are already full of small and sometimes deeper scratches because everything got scratched during the covering with Styrofoam during the exterior plastering.
Thanks to you!
Best regards
Katja

Hello Katja, I'm afraid you'll have to live with that. There are certainly some warranty options in Poland, but these are surely not as customer-oriented as in Germany. You probably won't have much recourse unless the installing company has taken on the warranty. I would have liked to write something nicer there.......

From my own experience, I can say that customer orientation is significantly more pronounced among Eastern Europeans than among German craftsmen. The disadvantage, of course, is that if you annoy them too much, they simply become unreachable.

I didn't know that. But we don't know how the deal came about. I think it will be difficult.

Just ask the company. But scratches during construction etc. You can always use the argument that it was the craftsman XYZ,,,,

By the way, it is always a risk when you buy cheaper abroad. You have more legal certainty in Germany. For that, you pay a few euros more.
