Hello everyone,

to protect myself against a failure of the drainage pump, I have installed an alarm system with a mobile communication module. In case of a malfunction (fuse, emergency float switch, etc.), an SMS is sent or a number is called.
Now I wonder what kind of tariffs work there. Does anyone have a tip?

It is important that the number is practically never used. The prepaid tariffs of the blue network operator, in my opinion, automatically become invalid if they are not used for a longer time.

Thanks & regards

Can't you check the status of the modules? That is, send an SMS and receive an SMS back? Just do that once a year...

Can't you just get an additional card added to your contract? SMS probably won't work then, but calls will. Or just sign up for a cheap contract; I would call the provider to see if they can offer you something affordable.

Wouldn't it be easier/cheaper/more reliable to run a cable into the house and tap the status there and, if necessary, forward it?

What you are looking for are IoT tariffs. Search for "1NCE Lifetime Fee". A 10-year SIM for 10 EUR on the Telekom network.

Presumably, that is the easiest option; I have to check that later. I'll clarify that too, thanks for the tip! Cable wouldn't have worked since, among other things, you would have had to go through another apartment. Since it is also a multi-family house, the system should not be tied to a "caretaker," so they considered the SIM card solution the easiest to handle. Without worrying about follow-up costs. I only found that as a business customer tariff. Possibly, however, the property management could purchase this for the owners' association. Thanks for all the tips!
