Air-water heat pump, mono or split? Is the installation okay?

Good day everyone,

I am currently dealing with the heating system. We are getting a Daikin air-to-water heat pump with a water storage tank and I am currently considering which version would be the most sensible. I am reluctant to rely on one opinion (GU) and would like to know your thoughts on this. I have attached a photo showing where the outdoor unit and the indoor unit are supposed to be installed. To shorten the "distance" a bit, the indoor unit could also be placed at Pos2. Now the question is whether we should prefer a split unit because of the distance? I spoke with a designer from an air-to-water heat pump manufacturer and he said the pipes only need to be well insulated if we choose a monoblock. The losses would then be very low. The distance to the next neighbor from the outdoor unit is about 20m, so noise should not really be an issue.

Thank you very much for your opinions.

And what do you gain from that? You do realize that the pipes must also be well insulated with the split unit? Even if it’s not as demanding. Yep. And besides, your pipes also run inside the house and not outside. Why not just change the position of the outdoor unit? Regardless of mono or split. Besides, there are many good insulations. For example, you can use district heating pipes with the monoblock.

Ok, thanks for the information. Then we will prefer the Mono device. I was not aware that insulation is also required for the Split device. But then the decision is even easier. Regarding the position of the outdoor unit, it is chosen to have the greatest distance to the neighbor and also so that we are not disturbed by it. This is the case on this side. But thank you very much for the help.

Brief side note: If the "water storage tank" is for domestic hot water, fine. If it is supposed to be for the heating system (heating buffer), then please omit it. Advantage of mono: Here you can already get models with R290 (propane) as refrigerant. This is much better both in terms of environmental compatibility and efficiency than anything else. Therefore, I would definitely choose mono. In addition, a monoblock can be replaced by any heating technician, which may save costs at some point.

... even by a (reasonably skilled) layperson. Power off, unscrew the supply and return lines, remove the old unit and put in the new one, connect and screw in ==> done.

Yes, exactly for that reason I wanted a mono system. I was told that the person doing the maintenance does not need a separate "refrigeration certificate." Also, the "noise" stays outside. The water storage tank is supposed to be for domestic water, 250-300L for 3 people should be enough. Thank you all!
