Hello dear forum,

I am new to this forum and have a question,

Our two-family house (270sqm) will probably have a wide south-facing side. Because of this, I am a bit afraid that it will become unbearably hot inside the house in summer and we are considering a ventilation system with active cooling.

We plan to install an air-to-water heat pump as the heating type with underfloor heating.
We are not yet quite sure about installing a ventilation system. If we do install one, it will definitely be a central system and not a decentralized one (due to noise pollution from outside). I now have several questions:

a) How good/effective is an air-to-water heat pump with a central ventilation system with cooling, especially with its heat recovery? I mean as a monoblock? Or split (heat pump and controlled residential ventilation)?

b) Which combination/manufacturer of air-to-water heat pump + ventilation system with active cooling can you recommend?

c) How many degrees difference do the new ventilation systems with active cooling bring!!!
I do not mean a ventilation system that simply exchanges warm air for fresh air.

d) Or can ventilation systems not compete against an air conditioning system?

I am already very grateful for any response!

Ventilation system with active cooling, which one is that? Basically, please provide the south side with shading options.

I'm not sure if I've chosen the right term with active cooling, I've only been dealing with the whole topic for a few days.
I mean, there is controlled residential ventilation with a summer bypass, which can create a difference of several degrees. Can such a bypass be installed in any controlled residential ventilation system with heat recovery?

Or is there something else again?

So not just the 3-4 degrees that a heat pump with a cooling function achieves?

Yes, it depends on the side—the garage and only a few windows, the large ones then also with blinds

This summer bypass only "cools" at night when it has cooled down outside and then transports the cool air inside, past the heat exchanger. Whether that achieves much, I dare to doubt. In any case, with our decentralized ventilation in the old house, we did not notice any real cooling effect. You can also cool with a heat pump and underfloor heating, but even that is not comparable to an air conditioner. If you want to cool properly, you can't avoid an air conditioner.

Okay, I thought there was nothing like this yet, the air exchange of a controlled residential ventilation system is far too low to cool, even this summer bypass is nonsense... You don’t even notice the exhaust air function where a negative pressure is generated. Better to keep the windows open at night and let it cool down.

If cooling, then please actively with an air conditioner.

Air-water heat pumps with cooling function are supposed to work, but not even remotely as well as an air conditioner.

We made the mistake of installing only roller shutters; when they are down, it is noticeably cooler in the house in summer. But also dark.. therefore on the ground floor please install blinds and outside a sunshade or patio roof with blackout option.

thanks in advance for the feedback

exactly that would not be enough for me and you would have cold feet or at least colder ones. I wouldn’t want that either

yes, but that would already be a bit cooler and if you darken or shade everything during the day, it should last longer

that is exactly the question currently occupying me.
But the air conditioner needs significantly more electricity than a controlled residential ventilation system

Compact device with the functions of ventilation, heating, hot water preparation, and cooling
can you find anything about that in the datasheet?
