My mistake. PCI Pavifix, that is, pavement joint mortar, is used.

No tips for adhesive? I will probably order PCI Carrament now.

We were also offered ceramic tiles fully bonded on drainage mortar. All landscaping contractors said that it has not been permissible for several years to lay 2cm thick ceramic tiles on a gravel bed. What I do not understand is the drainage concrete if the tiles are ultimately fully bonded on top of it. Is there a logical explanation for this? Part of our terrace is covered by a glass roof, another part remains practically exposed to the weather, so this topic also concerns us.

@ "Allthewayup": Ceramic tiles or slabs as well as concrete stone slabs have (derived from DIN 18560 Part 1 and 2) a load-bearing capacity only from a material thickness of 40mm to 45mm that makes a rear-side bonding unnecessary. For example, as an elevated construction or on a noble gravel substrate. Then a drain screed obviously makes sense, as the various construction layers together with open joints can safely drain the surface water hitting them. If we want to read the small print in a document (as a metaphor), we do not put on black glasses. And it is the same with a waterproof layer (such as a cementitious adhesive bed) above a drain screed. ------------ Regards; KlaRa
