Hello,

if the existing substructure is not sufficient, basically only the complete replacement of the wall cladding remains. Remove old wall, have the surrounding base with HTU rail for fastening the new sandwich wall concreted. Depending on the laying direction of the sandwich wall, wall rails may also be required.

Then, depending on desire / mood / need, an accordingly high core thickness of the sandwich panels can be chosen.

What is the exact roof structure of the modernized roof? Load-bearing shell with XXXmm insulation and PE foil? Sandwich panels as roof? Suspended gutter or surrounding parapet? Drainage outside or internal drainage?

Are there construction plans of the existing hall?

Thanks for the information so far. I have used the past few days to sketch out further possibilities. I have now cut out a piece of metal from the inside. The metal "stands" on its own and can be removed. Behind it comes the framework for attaching the trapezoidal sheets on the outside. The insulation is clamped in between. It is 8cm of wool. Attached is a photo. Since I already have about 24cm of build-up to the exterior wall in the room due to the cladding of the steel beams, my plan now would be: Completely remove the metal inside. Masonry Ytong 17.5cm flush with the build-ups. Then I would have an air layer of about 8cm. This could either be left as is or filled with wool. If none of this works, the only option left is to completely remove the exterior wall. Insulation could then be mounted on the existing walls and plastered from the outside. However, I would prefer to keep the exterior wall standing.

If I were you, I would take a few hundred euros in hand and have a building physicist calculate it once. Often, such things fail because you don’t exactly know what surprises lurk in the existing structure, but in your case, it sounds like you know most of it or it wouldn’t be a problem to simply open a part of the existing building and take a look. That would certainly make it a child’s play for a building physicist to at least provide a solid assessment of whether there is a risk of condensation or not.

What I would not do: ask an executing trades company how it should be done, unless they guarantee for more than 5 years that nothing will happen moisture-wise – which they certainly will not.

Often the assessment here is “We’ve done it like this ten times already, nothing has ever happened.” But which tradesman will be held accountable 15 years after execution if a wall develops mold? And such damage, although it may already have occurred after the 5-year warranty period, is least noticed. Who opens the wall shortly before the warranty expires to check whether the idea of leaving out the vapor barrier worked back then?
