Hello dear forum,
I hope for experience-based insights regarding the following question: We have the opportunity to acquire a vacant house through family. Detached single-family house, classic with one full floor and many sloping ceilings. The house has 133 sqm of living space, and there is also an extension with 66 sqm (single-storey), which was previously used as a practice. The entire building needs a complete renovation, all wiring needs to be redone, additional insulation, the roofs need to be renewed, etc. - to put it mildly, a relatively extensive project.
My question: We are allowed to add an additional full floor to the "main house," which we would like to do. Not only because this would of course gain us a lot of living space, but also because my boyfriend, who is nearly two meters tall, is happy about every avoided sloping ceiling. Additionally, the roof needs to be renewed anyway, so it seems reasonable to take the opportunity to build up the upper floor. Has anyone done something like this before and has a rough overview of the costs? The dimensions are about 15x8.25 meters. In my research, I have come to approximately 100,000 euros for the masonry work (including insulation, etc., without "interior finishing"), plus another 20,000 euros for the new hipped roof. Is that realistic?
Thank you in advance for all feedback!
