OK, then I’ll clarify my post – replace ‘tunlichst’ with ‘möglichst’, and note the subjunctive ‘sollten’ in the last sentence, then it’s clear what I mean: Air conditioners are great if there is no other option. But if there is another way, I find that even better ;)

Of course, you are right; if there is no other option, air conditioners are a great solution (especially with photovoltaics in summer). But often the building options are not fully utilized and the need for air conditioning is ‘planned into existence’ – I find that outdated.
