Every Christmas, Ikea offers an extra 10% when buying gift cards.
For example, buy a voucher worth €2000 (3 years statutory limitation, more on goodwill) and receive a €200 promotional voucher (6 months valid through IKEA) on top.

Otherwise, from time to time something comes along.
Check portals like mydealz in the history for Ikea promotions, then you’ll see when such offers usually appear.

It depends on how risk-averse you are

We do a lot with classifieds (buying and selling).

Many want to hand over the vouchers personally and have them checked directly at the IKEA checkout. But since I didn’t want to drive 400 km, we did it so that shipping was done by registered mail (then you have the seller’s address in case of emergency). Afterwards, just go to Ikea in advance and have them check if the vouchers are really worth what was promised.

Also always make printouts of the ad. It’s about a lot of money, after all. But most people also sent a receipt with the voucher where the (remaining) balance was noted.

Such an approach has to be worthwhile. We also saw ads like, OFFERING 500 € voucher and want 495 €. That’s not worth it.

We knew what the Pax cupboard costs and bought the vouchers together. At the Ikea checkout they looked surprised when I had 8 cards. In the end, instead of 2,000 €, we paid about 1550 € with cards.

But as I said, not everyone does it because of registered mail. The lure was also sending PayPal payment to friends. People usually wanted to get rid of the vouchers quickly
