Hello everyone!

Our plumber asked us if we would like to have a circulation pump installed in our hot water circuit?

The heating system is located in the attic.

-Is this the current state of the art? Or is something like this no longer necessary?

-How high are the electricity costs and resulting gas costs for such a pump?

-How much water do I save by installing it and is the added value really that significant?

The whole thing would cost us an additional €300.

-Is it worth it or not?

I am always immediately enthusiastic about something like this because I like such "highlights" in the house. My wife is rather against it because the added value is not important to her and we should invest the €300 elsewhere...

What do you think?

300€ is very cheap. It’s a comfort thing. Faster hot water at the tap and in the shower. The other aspects like operating costs and supposed water savings are insignificant.

The woman is right. Play stuff. Not needed in a single-family house. I'll turn on the shower. Then I go to the closet, take my blood pressure and thyroid pill, then it's already warm. Max 1 min.

Absolutely, without it is really dumb. It brings a lot of comfort. Economically of course not, since water costs nothing.

The only exception is if your floor plan allows for extremely short hot water pipes, then you can do without it

That would be an absolute no-go for me!

Definitely get it, the 300 euros are worth it. I would also ask what kind of pump it is and possibly get one that is directly "intelligent" or has a built-in timer. And then you can also directly research their power consumption
