The KFW offers neither a special repayment nor a fixed interest rate for 25 years.

I will definitely do that. Next week our advisor is coming by in person. This was just a preliminary offer by email and he said on the phone that the interest rates should be even better, but we will go through everything thoroughly in person.

We also noticed that with a frown. After 10 years, the interest rate lock-in would expire there. Actually, we didn’t even want a KfW loan. I once read that it’s usually not as good as it seems at first glance. We will go through this in detail with our advisor next week.

That really shouldn’t be the case. He was already with us once and we discarded this option together right away.

However, I know someone who has now decided on a bank loan with 2.04% over 15 years while simultaneously saving into a building society savings contract, over which the further financing is supposed to take place at 1.90%. That might work for some. I’m not exactly familiar enough to judge that.

Try to determine as accurately as possible what the kitchen, paint, floors, etc. will cost you for the renovation. Then you can talk to the agent about a concrete figure.
