Hi, during the last frost period I noticed that I probably need to insulate or heat our new wooden shed a bit more to keep it frost-free. When it was -3 to -5 °C outside, the temperature inside quickly dropped to -0.5 °C.
It serves as a workshop and accordingly, paint, silicone, tools, and of course a beer supply are stored inside.
At first, I thought of installing 20-40 mm Styrodur panels inside the compartments of the framework, but I only know Styrodur as either green or pink panels, which in my opinion would completely ruin the appearance. So I wanted to cover the Styrodur with a kind of thin plywood panel.
Therefore, I am now more inclined towards wood fiber insulation boards since at least in terms of color they would fit better.
The compartment has a depth of about 12 cm, with 40 mm wood fiber boards installed, leaving 80 mm to, for example, install shelves and still be able to use the compartment somewhat as storage space.
If I were to insulate walls and ceiling, that would be just under 60 m² at 5 €/m², so just under 300 € for the material.
Or all nonsense and just install a fan heater, and let it hum for the 300 € savings, or at 300 € you are also not far off from a split air-conditioning system from the hardware store — how much that makes sense is another question..
